Dutch Blue & White Royal Delft Commemorative Plate. Steam Train in the Snow Winter - 1940.

The center of the tin glazed earthenware plate decorated in shades of blue with a steam locomotive stranded in the snow, marking the severty of the winter of the beginning of 1940  & the date 1940. In the rim the text:

DAT MEN NIET REISDE PER AUTO OF SPOOR - DAAR ZORGDE DE WINTER VAN ’40 WEL VOOR(That people didn’t travel by car or train -  there for took care the winter of ‘ 40.) 

Signed on the back in underglaze blue with:

DE PORCELEYNE FLES - ROYAL  DELFT 

DELFT - HOLLAND  -  Anno 1940

Two painters worked on this plate:

Painter: JAB = Jurrien Burghoorn.
Employment dates: October 1892 - 1949   

Painter CS  = Casper Schilperoort.
Employment dates 15 Oct. 1894 - 1950
