Vintage French Wooden JAPY Coffee Grinder

The square wooden coffee grinder with wooden drawer inside. The top with a scalloped edge, iron top with iron movable part front and iron handle with wooden finial. There is a corner missing from the top of the grinder, though the breakage seems old. Also repair on the handle. In the front a metal hexagonal sign with JAPY for:

Japy Freres was founded by Frederic Japy of Beaucount, born 1749 who first made movements for the clock industry at his factory in 1777, becoming the largest and most commercially important clockmaking concern in France. Japy Freres & Cie. supplied movements for some of France's greatest sculptures like Léon Messagé, Alfred-Emmanuel-Louis Beurdeley The business continued after his death. This grinder was manufactured at around 1930
