The tin glazed earthenware plate decorated in shades of blue on the whole plate with Dutch Brown sailing vessels, so called Bomschuiten on the beach at Scheveningen (The Haque) after a painting from H.W. Mesdag. Under left: Naar H.W. Mesdag. (Hendrik Willem Mesdag 1831- 1915.)
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:

Painter: VB  =  Willem Frederik van Baarsel
Employment dates: 1893 - 1944 or 1945.
Impressed mark: Joost Thooft & La Bouchere in a circle
