The tin glazed earthenware plate commemorating the 250th years anniversary of Het Jan Pesijns Hofje in 1933. The center decorated in shades of blue with the entrance building on the Kloksteeg 21 in Leiden surrounded with the text and stylized leaves:
Jean Pesijn’s Hof
1683 – Mei - 1933
On this place lived also John Robinson, preacher with circa 20 English family’s, followers, who left as the Pilgrim Fathers in 1920 Leiden to go to the States.
It was called the English Gate. In 1683 the widow of Jean Pesijn, Marie de Lannoy, built this “Hofje” (Courtyard) for the old members from the Waalse Hervormde Church.
