The tin glazed earthenware plate commemorating the 300th anniversary of the Pilgrim Fathers. Decorated in shades of blue with the sailing vessel THE MAYFLOWER * 1620* as written in the banderol on the ship above the Dutch text:
NEDERLANDSCHE PILGRIMFATHERS *HERDENKING* (commemoration.) 1620 - 1920 and the coat of arms of: Leiden, Amsterdam & Delftshaven. The rim with stylized leaves and flowers and the English text:
    “If We Ever Make Plantation.”

The Pilgrim fathers are the founding fathers of the U.S.A. (Massachusetts)
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:
DE PORCELEYNE FLES  -  ROYAL DELFT
DELFT - HOLLAND &  AP  = 1920

Painter’s initials: JL = Jan Willem Lispet.
Employment dates: August 9th 1887 - 1938
Only 627 plates were produced.
