The small octagonal plate decorated in shades of blue with in the center the poem:
Als Vuur en Water U belaeghen
Wie Sal de Scha dan voor U draegen.
When fire and water attack you – who will bear the damage for you.
The rim with floral motifs and on the corners the letters:
K.N.E.G.T. & Z.N.and 1840 - 1940.
Knegt & Son, insurance company Amsterdam Prinsengracht 917-919. Later Bussum.
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:
DE PORCELEYNE FLES  -  ROYAL DELFT
DELFT - HOLLAND   &  BJ = 1940.
