Dutch Blue & White Royal Delft Farming Plate – Raking The Hay 1929

The center of the tin glazed earthenware plate decorated in blue with a man raking the hay on the field. In the rim with stylized motifs and the text:
*HOOI TERWIJL DE ZON SCHIJNT* & under *1929* (Make hay while the sun shines.)
In the horizon the profile of the city Delft with the towers of the Old - & the New Church.
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:
DE PORCELEYNE FLES  -  ROYAL DELFT
DELFT - HOLLAND &  AY = 1929
Two painters worked on this plate:
Painter’s initials: JV = Johannes Dominicus van Velzen
Employment dates: 1 Nov. 1886 – 1938
Painter: AG = Andreas Petrus Guerrain
