Dutch Blue & White Royal Delft Commemorative Plate Melbourne Race KLM De Uiver - 1984. SOLD


The tin glazed earthenware plate commemorating the second race in1984, 50 years after the 1934 race. A simular plane, a DC 2 as the Uiver was used, because the first Uiver crashed a month later after the first 1934 race during an accelarated Christmas mail flight on the Amsterdam Batavia route. The plane from the second race returned safely back in Amsterdam  in 1984. Decorated in shades of blue with in the centre  the flying airplane PH - AJU, a  DOUGLAS DC 2 ,The Uiver, over the map from England untill Australia in the MacRobertson Londen - Melbourne air race from october 20th-24th. in 1934.19.877 km in 90 hours & 17 minutes and the text:

On the left the Big Ben. on the right the Royal Exhibition centre in Melbourne. The rim with stylized  floral swags.
