Dutch Blue & White Royal Delft Commemorative Plate In Memoriam Queen Emma - 1934

The tin glazed earthenware plate commemorating the dead of Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont, Former Queen of the Netherlands and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg and later regent of her daughter Wilhelmina, during the latter’s minority from 1890 - 1918. Decorated in shades of blue within the center a weeping willow with the text:
IN MEMORIAM EMMA  20  - MAART - 1934
surrounded on the rim with the text:
IK BEN IN HET MIDDEN VAN U ALS EEN, DIE DIENT
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:
DE PORCELEYNE FLES  -  ROYAL DELFT
