The small tin glazed earthenware plate commemorating the birth of William of Orange, the 400 years anniversary and decorated in shades of blue in the center with “Een Rots in de Branding” (A rock in the surf.) with the decoration of a Posthorn. (Posthorn is the Family coat of Arms) In the top WvO = Willem van Oranje. In the top of the rim:
1533. 24 APRIL. 1933 and in Latin:
Saevis * Tranquillus * in * Undis. (Calm in the savage waves)

Prince William of Orange of the Netherlands started the independence war against Philips II of Spain.
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:
