Fine Dutch Burr Walnut Cabinet on Stand.

The plain frieze with profile above two doors with inlaid bandwork. Enclosing a plain interior with a shelf with two drawers and three base drawers, above two short drawers and a long drawer on faceted tapering legs with moulded collars, joined by scrolling stretchers, on moulded bun feet. Oak veneered with burrwalnut and walnut band crossing.
Dutch furniture was heavily influenced by English cabinet making in that time and the popular 17th century rosewood veneer was superseded by walnut-veneer and remains popular in Holland for the 18th century thanks to the warmth of the colour and the beauty of the grain.
Normally a veneer of an inferior quality is used on the sides of Dutch furniture.
The present piece is an exception with burr –walnut on the side with the finest markings and a band crossing of walnut with the size of the depth of the door to make it symmetrical.   From England imported brass mounts, partly original.
