The bronze mortar cast in one piece, by Henrick ter Horst in Deventer in the Netherlands. Dated 1653. The waisted tapering body decorated with two reliefs with scrolling foliage and housemark ANO 1622 and in the top the cast inscription in Dutch: LOF GODT VAN AL ANNO 1653. with a fish shaped handle to each side, above a spreading turned foot. Henrick ter Horst is the most well known caster of mortars in the Netherlands. He worked in Deventer, an old Hanze-city on the river IJsel in the east of the Netherlands.
