Antique German Hanging Brass Yewish Star or Sabbath Lamp - Judenstern. SOLD

The star lamp is cast in a copper alloy and is constructed with the handle with a clover-shaped eye, the baluster-shaped shaft with a bayonet closure, to the the six-pointed star to which the drip bowl is connected. Six later small candle holders have been soldered into the sixstar points. The red copper hook of the drip bowl has been renewed.
In the Jewish-religious tradition, at the beginning of the Sabbath on Friday evening, the lamp is lit by the lady of the house.
