This reclining image is generally the symbol of Parinirvana, which is the ultimate aim of Buddhism, ending the cycles of rebirth.
The Buddha lies on a rectangular platform resting on his right hand. Dressed with the right shoulder and arm bare. Cast gilded bronze.
Most of those large figures appear in wood, and it is quite rare and unusual to find such a large bronze figure.
