Antique German Stobwasser Painted Papier-Maché Lacquer Snuff Box. The Rich Man After Rembrandt. SOLD


An early 19th Century Stobwasser snuff box, of circular form, the lid  very fine painted with a historical scene in the manner of Rembrandt with an elderly gentleman sitting on a table counting his fortune. Signed in red ink by the maker on the inside of the base:

Stobwassers Fabrik  and numbered 11122  and on the inside of the cover inscribed  'Der Reiche Mann nach Rembrandt. (The rich man after Rembrant.) and numbered 11122

Small damages on the rim. Inside bottom refinished.
