The center of the antique tin glazed earthenware plate decorated in blue with a lighthouse on a stormy sea with Dutch brown sailing vessels. In the dark cloud written CRISIS. In a cloud center left written OORLOG (War) In the rim with stylized floral swags the text:
Slechts door arbeid,tot het licht.   1921
(Only through labour will we get to the light.)
Designed by Leon Senf.
Signed on the back in underglaze blue for:
DE PORCELEYNE FLES - ROYAL DELFT
DELFT - HOLLAND  & AQ = 1921
Painter: VB = Willem van Baaarsel
Employment dates: June 30th 1893 - 1944/45.
